PINK HILL, LENOIR COUNTY - Deputies said they arrested a third suspect linked to a meth lab in Lenoir County.
The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office said they arrested Lorne Howard on Tuesday, August 20 at a home in Beaufort County.
They said he had been hiding out in that home since August 15, when a meth lab was busted in Pink Hill. Deputies said Howard left the meth lab minutes before the LCSO arrived to serve a search warrant.
According to the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, Howard was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession and/or distribution of methamphetamine precursors. He was in Lenoir County Sheriff's Detention Center under $50,000 secured bond.
According to Sheriff Christopher Hill, 44-year-old Lisa Futrell, of Pink Hill, was charged with felony possession of meth. She was being held on a $5,000 bond, but has since bonded out of jail.
Deputies had previously arrested 47-year-old Ralph Stroud , a.k.a. "Fast Eddie." According to Sheriff Hill, Stroud was operating the meth lab in Futrell's home at 5626 Highway 11 in Pink Hill. The location has been under investigation for four months, investigators said. Deputies describe the lab as "fairly large."
Stroud was arrested at the scene Thursday night. He was being held under a $200,000 bond on charges of manufacturing meth, possession of meth, and possessing and distributing meth precursors. Other charges are likely once SBI lab results come back, Sheriff Hill said.
"We've got to give the credit to the citizenry," Sheriff Hill said. "We received information from various sources and one of those sources was in this area."
Yvonne Deatherage is the coordinator for the Pink Hill Community Watch. She said she knows Stroud and that she thought he had gotten over his meth problems.
"With this being the third time I would say things aren't looking too good for him," Deatherage said.
According to officials, Stroud has a history of meth convictions and has served time in federal prison.
