Deputies: 2 drug suspects arrested after 1 was found unconscious

MOREHEAD CITY, CARTERET COUNTY - Deputies said they found a meth suspect unconscious in a Carteret County home. That man and another who live at the home are now facing a slew of drug charges.

According to investigators, 57-year-old William David Ballou (left) called deputies Saturday to his home at Bay Meadows Mobile Home Park on Country Club Road in Morehead City. Ballou wanted a guest removed from his residence, investigators said.

When deputies went inside the home, they found 34-year-old Michael Joseph Hedaria (right), of Clinton, unconscious in a bedroom, investigators said. Deputies also discovered  18 bags of crystal meth, 87 schedule lV pills, 80 Sudafed pills (an ingredient for making meth), digital scales and a sale ledger, according to investigators.

Hedaria was arrested and charged with one count of possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, one count of possession of methamphetamine precursors, two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule lV (Alprazolam), and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hedaria was initially placed in the Carteret County Jail under a $75,000 bond. But because he faces pending meth charges in Sampson and Wayne Counties, authorities decided to hold him under no bond, deputies said.

The man who initially called deputies, Ballou, was also arrested for allegedly selling drugs to undercover detectives in a previous incident. Deputies said once they took Ballou to jail, they discovered another five Alprazolam pills in his clothing.

Ballous has been charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule III, two counts of sell and deliver schedule III, two counts of maintaining a dwelling to sell and store a controlled substance, and one count of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. He was being held under a
$10,000 secured bond.
