EASTERN N.C. - As this winter storm continues to plow across eastern Carolina, expect Winter Weather Advisories to stay in effect until 1am Saturday morning.
Here is what to expect county by county.
North of Highway 264
This includes Martin, Pitt, Washington, Greene, Beaufort, and Lenoir counties.
Up to a tenth of an inch of ice is possible tonight. Most of the precipitation should be letting up by about 10pm but below freezing temps and quickly icing roads will be dangerous. We have numerous reports of accidents around the area.
South of Highway 264
This includes Maysville, New Bern, Havelock, Vanceboro, Pollocksville, Trenton, and Onslow counties.
Expect freezing rain and sleet over western parts of Craven and Jones County with temperatures near freezing. East of Highway 17, marine air should keep temps warm enough for rain to fall instead of freezing rain. As far south as Onslow County, expect some slick spots with icing possible as sleet and rain will continue to fall. Temperatures should also remain just above freezing.
For the Outer Banks
Expect Freezing rain and sleet with dangerous road conditions. Temperatures should stay at or below freezing with precipitation tapering off as we approach midnight.
Saturday should be mostly sunny, but breezy and cold, with the high in the middle 40's. Saturday night should be mostly clear and cold, with lows in the middle 20's.
Sunday should be sunny and cold, with the high in the middle 40's.
