Deputies, emergency officials and the SBI are investigating a fire that destroyed a Craven County mobile home Thursday morning, calling the blaze suspicious.
The fire happened on the 1100 block of Antioch Road north of Bridgeton. Emergency Services Assistant Director Ira Whitford said the fire started at about 11 a.m. Thursday.
No one was living in the mobile home. Instead, it was used as a place for storing furniture by the family who lives on the property, Whitford said.
Two people were at the property when the fire started Thursday morning, Whitford said. No one was injured.
Whitford said the blaze is considered to be suspicious because the same mobile home had previously caught fire at about 8 p.m. on June 13. That fire destroyed most of the building, and Thursday's fire "pretty much finished it off," Whitford told NewsChannel 12.
The Craven County Sheriff's Office is the lead investigator in this case, but Craven County Emergency Services and the State Bureau of Investigation are assisting.
