The Craven Community College Foundation honored three local leaders with the school's Fourth Annual Community Fabric Awards on Tuesday.

Community volunteer Nelson Bell McDaniel was honored for individual leadership.  Mitchell Hardware owner Greg Smith was honored for business leadership.  Craven Community faculty member Jeff Brown was honored for leadership in education.

CCC President Dr. Catherine Chew thanked the community and announced the progress of new educational programs and initiatives on the campus.

CCC Student Ambassadors Kayla Schliewe and Melissa Villa offered heartfelt messages about their educational experiences at the college and how they have prepared them to pursue their future professional goals.

A crowd of more than 600 people crowded the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center for the awards luncheon.
