Couple killed in wreck involving tractor-trailer

DUPLIN COUNTY - A tractor-trailer collided with a pickup truck in Duplin County, killing a married couple.

According to the Highway Patrol, 73-year-old Edward "Ed" Bradshaw and his wife, 67-year-old Doris Jones Overbee Bradshaw, both of Goldsboro, were killed in the wreck on NC 50 in Duplin County at about 4:20 p.m. Friday.

Troopers said Ed was driving a pickup truck and was turning left from US 117 onto NC 50 when the tractor-trailer hit the pickup. Ed failed to yield as he was turning onto the highway, said investigators.

The tractor-trailer driver was not hurt, troopers added.

Born in Duplin County, Ed Bradshaw once worked as a charter boat captain in Surf City and was a member of the Faison Fire Department, according to his obituary. He is survived by his daughter in Kinston, his son and daughter-in-law in Goldsboro, two sisters and a brother-in-law, two grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

A graveside service for Ed is scheduled to be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Faison Cemetery.

Doris Bradshaw, born in Johnston County, owned and operated O.K. Upholstery in Rosewood in Wayne County for 32 years, her obituary stated. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, two brothers, and six grandchildren.

Her funeral service is scheduled to be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Casey Funeral Home in Princeton. Her committal service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
