Commerce agency to release NC's unemployment rate

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA - North Carolina workers will learn whether conditions are improving in a state with one of the country's highest unemployment rates.
The state Commerce Department releases Monday the statewide unemployment rate for July. June's unemployment rate was unchanged at 8.8 percent, but employers dropped nearly 11,000 jobs from May to June.
The state's jobless rate had been falling for four straight months as the economy showed slow improvement.
The national unemployment rate in June also remained unchanged at 7.6 percent.
North Carolina remains stuck with the country's fifth-highest unemployment rate behind Nevada, Illinois, Mississippi and Rhode Island.
