Coast Guard medevacs woman from cruise ship
The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced an 87-year-old woman from a cruise ship Monday.
This happened 38 miles east of Ocracoke.
Workers aboard the cruise ship Norwegian Breakaway notified members at the fifth district command center around 11:30 Monday morning.
They said a woman was in medical distress.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and flight surgeon from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City went to the scene.
The Coast Guard then transferred the woman to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where she is listed as stable.
