Camp Lejeune teacher, boyfriend arrested on heroin charges
A sixth-grade teacher at Camp Lejeune and her boyfriend have been arrested on heroin charges.
Theresa Catherine Fedor, 53, of Hubert, is a sixth-grade teacher at Brewster Middle School, according to Camp Lejeune Public Affairs Director Nat Fahy. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service took Fedor into custody at the district superintendent's office Friday morning, Fahy said.
Fedor has been placed on administrative leave pending results of the investigation, said Camp Lejeune District Superintendent Aldridge Boone.
"The welfare of the students is our primary consideration at this particular time," Boone said. "We will definitely have a qualified substitute teacher to come in and take over classes until this is resolved."
Investigators said Fedor's live-in boyfriend, 43-year-old Jeffrey Chisholm, is on probation for a prior drug offense. As a condition for his probation, he's subject to warrantless searches by probation and parole officers, authorities said.
On Aug. 30, probation and parole officers executed a warrantless search, and said they found 2.6 grams of heroin, wax baggies, syringes, digital scales and a pill crusher in Fedor and Chisholm's home.
Chisholm was charged with possession that day and claimed the paraphernalia was his, according to officials.
When Fedor was taken into custody Friday, detention officers also found illegal prescription drugs in her possession, investigators said.
Fedor has been charged with one count of possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, one charge for allegedly keeping the drug in her home, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
NewsChannel 12 stopped by Fedor's home to get her side of the story.
"I can't, I can't say anything," Fedor said. "My lawyer says I can't talk about anything about the case."
Department of Defense officials said teachers who are employed through the DoD are not drug tested, but are subjects to background checks during the hiring process.
