Some Onslow County residents will experience low water pressure and outages starting Wednesday night, prompting a boil water advisory.
According to the Onslow Water and Sewer Authority, crews will be repairing a leaking waterline and installing a new valve beginning at 11 p.m. Wednesday. The work will last until 6 a.m. Thursday.
All water consumers in Richlands will experience low to no water pressure during that time, ONWASA stated.
Because periods of low or no pressure increase the chance of bacteria getting into the water system, ONWASA is advising residents to boil their water for consumption once pressure gets restored. The water should be boiled for a minute to kill bacteria. It’s not necessary to boil water used for showering or bathing, ONWASA stated.
The boil-water advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
