WASHINGTON, BEAUFORT COUNTY - A Greenville man is facing a slew of drug charges, for allegedly trying to deliver drugs to Beaufort County.
Megueil Dewayne Gardner, 42, of Dickerson Avenue in Greenville, was arrested on Wednesday and placed in the Beaufort County Detention under a $220,500 secured bond.
Investigators said they received word that Gardner was traveling into Beaufort County to deliver heroin. The suspect was pulled over near the intersection of Highway 264 West and Wharton Station Road in Washington. During the traffic stop, a K-9 unit found 200 doses of heroin packed in wax paper bindles, with an estimated street value of $4,000, deputies said.
Investigators said they also seized three bottles of liquid methadone and 17 dosage units of SUBOXONE Sublingual Film, a medication used to treat opioid dependence.
Gardner was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking in heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance (methadone), possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule III controlled substance (SUBOXONE), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
