Deputies said they need the public's help to identify a "person of interest" in an armed robbery at a Lenoir County convenience store.

According to the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, the man pictured above was recently inside the Crossroads store at 1520 Hugo Road north of Kinston. That store was robbed by a gunman Tuesday evening.

Investigators said the man pictured is not a suspect, but a "person of interest." Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office at 252-559-6140.

Deputies said the Crossroads store was robbed at about 8 p.m. Tuesday night. A man armed with a gun entered while one clerk and a few customers were inside, said owner Randy Sarah.

After stealing money and cigarettes, the suspect ran out of the store and into a two-door sliver car parked on the side of the building, according to investigators.

"I want him caught- that's using the words lightly," Sarah said.

"I was kind of shocked," said customer Mark Jones. "I stop in here once or twice a week."

"I was down here 4 to 5 minutes after it happened when all the police got here," said customer Vernon Freeman. "This store is out in the country. It's Christmas time. People ain't got no jobs and looking for a way to get a dollar cheap."

Lenoir County Sheriff Christopher Hill said the suspect in Crossroads robbery is believed to be the same suspect who robbed the North Lenoir Community Mart on 2823 Institute Road two weeks ago.

The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to an arrest. The Crossroads store owner is also putting up a $2,000 reward.
