WILSON, WILSON COUNTY - UPDATE:
On Thursday, Wilson Police Department arrested and charged Montavius S. Davis, 24, with first degree murder in the death of Kamari Jones. Police said more arrests are expected.
Public records show Davis has three drug related offenses--one he even served time for.
Police said they encourage anyone with information regarding this case is to contact the Wilson Police Department.
This arrest comes the same day of the child's public viewing.
The viewing was held at the Hamilton Funeral Chapel in Wilson on Thursday, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Family, friends and community members came to pay their respects.
The boy's funeral is expected to be held on Friday, said community members.
Police have released the name of a 7-year-old boy who was killed after shots were fired into a home in Wilson County.
The Wilson Police Department said 7--year-old Kamari Jones was killed in the shooting on the 400 block of Parkview Street at about 9:51 p.m. Wednesday.
The boy was inside the home when shots were fired into the residence, hitting him, police said. Kamari was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he died.
Police said they are still actively investigating this shooting. They did not say who they believe was the intended target. At last check, no arrest had been made.
