Arrest made in Fayetteville murder

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) - A Fayetteville teenager has been charged with the murder of Wolfgang Joppich.

Police arrested 18-year-old Terrane Dukes Wednesday evening. He is charged with the robbery and murder of 67-year-old Wolgang Joppich.

Joppich's body, was discovered Sunday evening on Tally-Ho Drive. He had been shot once in the chest.

Police later found Joppich's wallet and other personal items in a trash bin about half a mile from his body.

A Fayetteville police spokesman isn't saying what led to the teenager's arrest. The spokesman said a press conference is scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m.

Dukes is booked at the Cumberland County jail under no bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday afternoon.

Joppich, a Vietnam War veteran, was known for his love of wild cats in Fayetteville.
