GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY -

Detectives with the Greenville Police Department have solved a series of robberies targeting the Hispanic community.

Officials said in each case, a Hispanic male approached other Hispanic individuals in or around department stores, pretending to sell electronics at a reduced price. During the money exchange the suspect either ran off with the money or threatened the victim by gesturing as though he had a weapon, officials said.

Greenville police arrested Jose Luis Olivares-Hernandez, of Vera Cruz, Mexico, Thursday. He's charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and common law robbery.

Hernandez is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $1,395,000.00 bond.
