GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY - North Carolina Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced Wednesday afternoon that hundreds of manufacturing jobs will be coming to Greenville.
According to Decker, ASMO will be investing $50 million to bring 200 more jobs to its Greenville plant on Sugg Parkway. The positions involve the manufacturing of auto parts and hiring will take place over the next three years.
The company will be partnering with Pitt community College for training, Decker said. Grants form both the state and Pitt County made the expansion possible.
ASMO has the number one market share in its field, and has more than 30 plants across the U.S.
The news of the ASMO expansion comes after Walmart announced it will open a new store in Greenville this summer, which will create about 300 jobs.
Walmart will be accepting both full-time and part-time associates. A hiring center has been set up at 3193 E. 10th St., Suite B, in Greenville. The hiring center will be open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon
