Woman labeled "idiot" & "vandal" for Obama sticker on vehicle
A harassing Post-it note left on a local woman's car has her saying "enough is enough."
Cathy O'Brien lives on a quiet street in the historic district of New Bern, Craven County. She's a public but reserved supporter of the Democratic party and said the harassment from the opposition has gone too far. "Can't people look at each other and disagree and we can talk with each other rather than going around and doing rude things like this?" said O'Brien.
In early January, O'Brien was heading out for the day when she noticed a note stuck to her passenger side rear view mirror in her driveway. The note reads as follows:
"I just wanted to let you know that someone vandalized your car by slapping an Obama sticker on it. The last thing you want to be doing is driving around all day looking like an idiot. Take care, A Good Samaritan."
O'Brien told NewsChannel 12's Anna Bulszewicz, "There are people like me, we are polite, we are courteous and civil. We don't go around hanging notes on people's cars saying they look like an idiot."
The local community volunteer said she placed the the Obama/Biden sticker on her vehicle months before the presidential election in November 2012. She wonders why someone would target her vehicle months after the election.
In addition to receiving what O'Brien calls a "premeditated, arrogant" note, she said it was a bold move to place the Post-it on her vehicle, on her property.
O'Brien filed an informal complaint at the local police department and to this day has no clue who placed the note. She says, "I don't want to know who did it."
