Woman Charged In Greenville Theft
One suspect turns herself into police Wednesday night and was charged with felony larceny for allegedly stealing $1300 worth of designer merchandise from Monkee's Friday.
Greenville Police said Kissy Cooper, 31, turned herself into the Pitt County Detention Center after several calls were made to authorities about her identity from store surveillance video. Cooper was charged with one count of felony larceny and conspiracy to commit felony larceny. Cooper posted $5,000 bail.
Employee Danielle Griffin said the two women came into the store on Arlington Boulevard just after 10 a.m. and were out within minutes. Four Michael Kors watches and one Tory Burch handbag worth $450 were reported stolen after the pair left the store.
"The first incident happened when I went back to turn all of the lights on and turn the radio on, and it was just one quick swipe of the set of watches," Griffin said. "They're professionals; I could tell this was not a first event for them."
Co-owner of Monkee's Lauren Dishman said this is the first major shoplifting incident for the store. Monkee's has eight surveillance cameras that run 24 hours a day.
Police said the women pulled away in a white Cadillac Escalade. Detectives are offering a reward. Anyone with information is asked to call Pitt-Greenville CrimeStoppers at 252-758-7777.
