Voice of Pirates Jeff Charles undergoes emergency surgery
ECU radio play-by-play announcer Jeff Charles suffered a setback in his fight against colon cancer.
According to Pirate Radio 1250 & 930, Charles had to undergo emergency surgery Thursday night, and was recovering in the ICU at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Charles' family announced on Dec. 5th that he was diagnosed with colon cancer and had two previous surgeries.
A pathology report released on Dec. 11 stated that just one of 42 lymph nodes tested was cancerous.
