Sunny Sunday with rain on the way
A storm in the Gulf of Mexico is headed northeast and will likely sweep the coast of eastern Carolina Monday.
An upper-level weather disturbance gained steam Sunday over the Gulf of Mexico, kicking up showers and thunderstorms. The system will likely cross Florida today and redevelop along the Gulf Stream to the east of our region.
Even though the center of the storm will stay off the coast, scattered light rain showers will push across the area Monday near dawn. Not a lot of rain is expected with this system, and should move out for the afternoon. Clouds might take awhile to clear.
Skies should stay dry through the middle of the week with another storm on tap later in the week.
