Strong, potentially severe storms early Tuesday
We're tracking the potential for an isolated tornado or waterspout in the day ahead
A warm, tropical air mass will get the storms popping during your morning commute.
We start off with a wide variety of weather Tuesday morning.
Storms are along and east of Highway 17. Fog is a problem from Greenville northward towards Rocky Mount.
A upper level disturbance is moving along the coast this morning, helping to touch off the stronger storms that will be with us through early afternoon.
Any of these storms could have some brief to heavy downpours, frequent lightning, along with damaging wind gusts. Because of the ingredients in place in the atmosphere an isolated tornado or water spout is also possible.
This action will lift northbound out of the area by mid-afternoon. We will still remain in the warm sector between a cold front to our west and the warm front which will be in southern Virginia.
As a result, highs will surge into the low to mid 80s with a very tropical feel in the air.
StormTrack 12 Meteorologists will continue to track the potential for dangerous and severe weather.
