(AP) - Gov. Pat McCrory's administration is asking North Carolina state senators not to rush a bill that would block expansion of Medicaid under the health care overhaul and leave it to the federal government to build the state's online marketplace for health insurance.
    
McCrory's legislative lobbyist wrote to senators Monday in a letter obtained by The Associated Press. Fred Steen asks for additional time to evaluate the bill's financial ramifications. Steen says passing the bill would delay or possibly eliminate funding for a federally mandated computer system to determine eligibility for programs like Medicaid.
    
The Senate was slated to debate the bill Monday evening.
    
Steen says McCrory agrees this isn't the time to expand Medicaid coverage and that there are still too many questions for the state to run an exchange.
