Bertie County deputies have arrested a suspect in an attempted bank robbery.
Randolph Levy Hyman, Jr., 22, of Williamston in Martin County, is wanted on charges of attempted common law robbery and extortion.
Last month, Hyman allegedly walked into the Southern Bank, on 113 South Main Street in Roxobel, and handed a teller a note, demanding money, said Bertie County Sheriff John Holley. But the teller did not give the suspect any money, and he fled the scene.
Sheriff Holley said Hyman was taken into custody Tuesday.
