Severe storms possible for Friday in Eastern Carolina
A fairly strong cold front is expected to be moving across Eastern Carolina, bringing a chance of severe storms.
As the weather system push from west to east Thursday night into the first two-thirds of Friday, rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast. According to StormTrack 12's computer models, most of the rain and storms will happen late Thursday into early Friday. But the best chance for the storms to be severe should be in the mid to late afternoon, depending on the temperature (Friday's high will be about 80 degrees).
The main threat from the possible severe weather Will be damaging wind gusts, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
Heavy rain is a possibility during both morning and afternoon hours.
There's a chance for some late-day thunderstorms on Friday, but they should be offshore by the evening time.
