Several local ferry routes temporarily suspended

The North Carolina Department of Transportation Ferry Division temporarily suspended some local ferry routes because of fog and mechanical problems.

The Bayview-Aurora and Hatteras-Ocracoke routes are suspended because of mechanical problems.

Officials said the Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach route was closed Sunday morning because of fog, but reopened around 9 a.m. 

Crews hope to have the routes back up and running sometime Sunday morning.
