The SBI and Bethel Police are investigating a house fire that displaced two residents.

Firefighters were called to the 400 block of West Railroad Street in the Pitt County town shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Crews arrived to find the rear porch engulfed, a fire official said.

One person was in the house at the time of the fire.  That person was transported to Vidant Medical Center for observation.

The blaze left about $20,000 of damage.

The cause remains under investigation.
