Police officer busted for DWI resigns
A Williamston police officer resigns following a DWI arrest.
The Highway Patrol says 22-year-old Synthia Bowen was driving near the US-64 Alternate in Edgecombe County when she ran through a stop sign and ended up in a ditch. When troopers arrived on scene to investigate, they found that she had a blood alcohol content of .17, more than twice the legal limit of .07. The incident happened on November 17th. Bowen was charged with DWI and a stop sign violation.
The Williamston Police Department confirmed that Synthia Bowen was an officer with their department for a couple of months; her resignation was effective on Monday, November 19th. The police department did not release the cause of the resignation.
