Police: Suspect leads foot chase, gets tazed
A male suspect led police officers on a foot chase, before getting tazed, police said.
Officers were doing foot patrol on West 5th Street and Davis Street at about 12:30 p.m., when they saw the suspect acting suspiciously, police said. The officers then walked to the suspect and started interviewing him.
One of the officers than asked the suspect to take his hand out of his pocket, and that was when the suspect ran off on foot, police said. The officers gave chase, and said they saw the suspect throw an object out of his pocket.
The pursuing officers said the suspect eventually stopped and was waiting for them with a clenched fist. As a result, one of the officers tazed the man, police said. The suspect dropped to the ground and appeared to be having a seizure. But when EMS workers arrived, he appeared to be okay, police said. The suspect was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
The case was still under investigation and charges were pending, police said. The identity of the suspect had not been released.
