Police Search for Suspect in Armed Robbery of Marines
Greenville Police say they have identified one of the suspects in the armed robbery of three U.S. Marines, but say they would like the public's help in identifying the second suspect - the man wearing a red shirt in the above surveillance video shot.
Officers say the armed robbery happened at the 5-Points plaza in downtown Greenville about 2:30 a.m. on June 30th. Patrol officers found the three victims, all U.S. Marines, who reported that they had been robbed by 2 suspects. The victims say the suspects showed a handgun, and they assaulted one of the Marines by hitting him in the face when the victim didn’t have anything valuable to steal.
Downtown public safety cameras were reviewed and detectives located the two suspects on camera as they approached the victims. Detectives say one suspect has been identified as Desmond L. Moore, 26, of Greenville.
Officers say Desmond Moore is a convicted felon and repeat offender. He has a criminal history that includes drug offenses, assaults, and thefts. Moore is considered to be armed & dangerous. Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest on July 12th.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit would like the community’s help to identify the second suspect, seen on camera wearing the red shirt. CrimeStoppers will pay a reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case. Call CrimeStoppers at 252-758-7777.
