Police: SUV hits and kills moped driver

An SUV hit and killed a moped driver in Wilson County, police said.

Victor Eugene Tolliver, 45, of Wilson, was driving his moped Sunday night, when the SUV, driven by 37-year-old Tonya Lavender, of Elm City, hit Tolliver, police said. The crash happened at the intersection of Hines Street and Mercer Street in Wilson.

Tolliver was taken to Vidant Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, officers said. The case remained under investigation and no charges had been filed.
