Police Arrest Alleged Masked Armed Robbers
Greenville Police arrest two men they say are responsible for the armed robbery of a convenience store last week.
Officers say they spotted 19-year-old William White of Belvidire, NC, and 19-year-old Denzel Evans of Edenton in a rental car on Hemby Lane in Greenville around 2 a.m. Thursday. Officers stopped the driver because they say they wanted to investigate where the driver was going at that time of day when most businesses in this area were closed.
A field interview with the driver, William White, resulted in the discovery by police of a 20-gauge, pistol-grip pump shotgun.
White and Evans were brought in for questioning, during which detectives say it was discovered these 2 suspects committed the armed robbery of the Kangaroo Convenience Store at 1301 W. Arlington Blvd in Greenville on July 11, 2012.
Both suspects were taken to the Pitt County Detention Center and jailed under $50,000 secured bonds. Both men were charged with 1 count each of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
Detectives say they are continuing to follow up with information about these suspects to determine if they committed other crimes in Greenville or in other jurisdictions.
