New Bern police release suspect name in weekend shooting

Shooting suspect still on the loose
NEW BERN -

New Bern police have released the name of the suspect in a weekend downtown shooting.

Police on Monday said they are looking for Mareus Kaplin-Andrew Petterson, 21, of Reelsboro, in connection with the shooting.

Police in New Bern responded to a call about a man in the hospital who had been shot. Police say the man was shot around 4 a.m. Sunday while trying to break up a fight on the corner of Queen and Princess streets near a club call AfterParty in downtown New Bern.

The victim has been treated and released from the hospital,but police are not releasing his identity at this time.
