NC State forward C.J. Leslie entering NBA draft
NC State junior forward C.J. Leslie has announced that he will forego his final season of eligibility and enter his name into the 2013 NBA Draft.
Leslie, a third-team All-ACC selection by both the media and coaches in 2012-13, led the Wolfpack in scoring for the second straight season with 15.1 points per game. Under head coach Mark Gottfried, Leslie was one of three ACC players to rank in the top 10 in scoring (seventh), rebounding (7.4, eighth) and field goal percentage (.519, seventh) in the conference.
"After discussing this with my family and Coach Gottfried, I have decided this is the right move for me and my family," said Leslie. "Growing up watching NC State basketball, I'm honored to have been a part of this program for the past three years. I'm proud to have been a part of helping re-establish the Wolfpack as one of the nation's elite programs."
Leslie started 85 of the 99 games he played during his collegiate career. He averaged 13.7 points during his three campaigns. His 1,359 points rank 23rd all-time in program history, and his 135 blocks are fifth best in the Pack record books.
"It has been a pleasure getting to know and coach Calvin," said Gottfried. "I want thank him for all he's done for this program, and I believe he has bright career ahead of him at the next level."
