RALEIGH -

(AP) - The North Carolina chapter of the NAACP is making final preparations for its march on the General Assembly.

Chapter president the Rev. William Barber will discuss the details of the HKonJ assembly and march during a news conference on Friday, which is the 53rd anniversary of the sit-ins at the Woolworth's lunch counter in Greensboro.

A statement says the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the march coalition are focusing on ending poverty, educational equality, health care for all, fairness in the criminal justice system and voting rights.

News conferences are scheduled in six other locations across the state, including Charlotte, Greensboro and Wilmington.
