Motocross in Maysville goes to new heights
Jimmy "Jammer" Weinert hosts two races with more to come
As the dust settles, you find yourself at the Jimmy Weinert Training Facility off of Highway 58 in Maysville. It's a place where the young and seasoned go to ride.
"I rode here everyday since I was four years old. Four times a week, I would come here," said Cooper Webb, a local rider.
The new owner, Jimmy Weinert, made his mark in motocross in the 1970s. He has won 22 national races and 3 championships. The race held this past Sunday was Weinert's second race at the facility, and he wants to train future champions.
"This is what I do, and I want a nice place for kids and for people to come to," said Weinert.
From ten in the morning to four in the afternoon, riders kick up dust hoping one day to become a champion. Eventually, Weinert would like for his facility to host some national competitions.
"I do want some bigger races and maybe something big that puts Maysville on the map," said Weinert.
For now the training facility will host the races that get the riders to the next level.
