Marines adopt HJ MacDonald Middle School
CRAVEN COUNTY -

H J MacDonald Middle School is getting some extra help from Marines stationed at Cherry Point.

The commanding officer of Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron signed the dotted line with the school's administrators for the Marines to volunteer at the New Bern school.

The principal hopes the Marines will be good role models for the students.

"I think the relationships that these Marines build with our students will have them thinking about their future," said Deborah Langhans, HJ MacDonald principal.

The squadron will help promote the education, health, fitness and citizenship of H J MacDonald Middle School.
