BATH, BEAUFORT COUNTY -

A man pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree murder and other charges, for beating a wheelchair-bound man to death.

Arturo Lopez-Perez pleaded guilty for the murder of 53-year-old Leonard Alfred Wilson III, according to the Washington Daily News. A neighbor found Wilson's beaten body in his home, on Main Street in Bath, on Oct. 7, 2010. The cause of death was blunt force trauma, investigators said.

Lopez-Perez also pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony larceny and first-degree arson for Wilson's murder. He could get up to life in prison with parole, according to the district attorney.

Two other men were arrested for Wilson's murder. Martel Deval Weston and Domonic Kidean Farrow. Both pleaded guilty to lesser crimes and testified against Lopez-Perez.

The three men will be sentenced at a future hearing.

Wilson had lived in Bath for 15 years. According to neighbors, Wilson was a mentor to Lopez-Perez.
