Man allegedly leads 2-county chase, wrecks vehicle on trooper's cruiser
A man, with a long rap sheet, allegedly led authorities on a high-speed chase through two counties. But the pursuit ended when the suspect's car ended up partially on top of a trooper's cruiser, the Highway Patrol said.
Tari Antwaun Rasberry, 36, of North Taylor Street in Goldsboro, was arrested and put into the Duplin County Jail, troopers said.
At around 3 p.m. Monday, Rasberry led authorities on a high-speed chase from Duplin to Sampson Counties, before wrecking his car on Pugh Road, outside of Clinton, troopers said. A Highway Patrol cruiser got wedged underneath the suspect's vehicle.
Rasberry was treated and released from a hospital, troopers said. No one else was hurt.
Rasberry was wanted in Duplin County on outstanding warrants, troopers said. But the nature of those warrants was unknown. NewsChannel 12 reached out to Duplin County officials, and were waiting for investigators to call back.
According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Rasberry has a long rap sheet dating back to 1995. He had been imprisoned 11 times in Lenoir, Pitt and Wayne Counties, for crimes such as breaking and entering, identity theft, possessing stolen goods and more.
