Some kids will not eat carrots and cucumbers, but Chef Marina Salek is trying to change that.
"It's really important that kids know about nutrition, about not adding extra salt and fat to your foods. Child obesity is a huge problem in this country," said Chef Salek.
The kids add corn and oranges to their salad. Justin Carter makes his own ranch dressing.
"To it almost tasted better because I made it. I knew what was in it," said Carter.
On the first day of camp, the kids learn kitchen safety and how to make their own salads and dressing. For the rest of the camp, they learn how to make soup, homemade pasta, ice cream and quesadillas.
"If we can get our teens and our young adults in the right direction, they can have really happy and successful lives," said Chef Salek.
For Carter, he really is what he eats.
"It just gives you a chance to make food and express yourself in your food," said Carter.
For four days, the kids learn how to become a top chef.
