A suspect in the Hustle Mart triple murder allegedly tried to stab a jail officer at the Pitt County Detention Center, deputies said.
Antwan Anthony, 29, was accused of trying to stab an officer with a pen on Nov. 15, as the suspect was being served a meal, investigators said. The officer was not injured.
Anthony was facing a handful of new charges for the incident, including attempted assault on an officer. He was transferred to the Central Prison in Raleigh.
Anthony was one of four suspects charged with three counts of first-degree murder, for killing three store clerks at the Hustle Mart in Farmville on April 1st. The other three suspects in the shooting were Xavier Shamble, 19, Willie Whitehead, 24, and Raekwon Blount, 15.
Anthony was also charged in the killings of an Edgecombe County couple at their Princeville home in March.
