House consumed by flames in firefighter training

The West of New Bern Volunteer Fire Department is conducting Live Burn Training on Sat., March 2 on Chelsea Road in New Bern, Craven County.  The training started around 8:30 a.m. and will run into the afternoon. 

The purpose of the training is to provide fire fighters an opportunity to practice and hone their skills in fire suppression, rapid intervention, incident command, rescue and other fuctions of their jobs.  Other fire departments that are participating.  They include Rhems Fire and Rescue, New Bern Fire-Rescue, Rescue 30, and Cove City Fire.
