Girl, 6, opens Lemonade stand for Sandy victims
Allison Bergmueller is one unique little girl. She started a lemonade stand, but instead of keeping the profits she is donating them to Hurricane Sandy victims.
"It was Allison's idea," Allison's father Marc Bergermueller said. "She was watching the news with me. She said she wanted to help those people and why couldn't we have a lemonade stand and collect food instead of money."
Allison set up the booth in her neighborhood in Fairfield Harbour and the response was abundant. Allison was only asking for food donations in exchange for lemonade, but some buyers were happy to throw in some cash.
All the donations were taken to a drop off location by Boy Scout Troop 683. Troop 683 leader Richard May says when he heard about the donation, he was floored.
"It really touched my heart that such a little girl that age understands the situation and the importance of it and that she dedicated her work to this project," May said.
