The Duplin County Highway Patrol has confirmed that there was a small gas leak along Interstate 40 near Rose Hill early this morning.
They say that after two cars got into an accident and were pulled over on the side of the road, an 18-wheeler ran over the debris of the accident. It proceeded to side swipe one of the vehicles when its gas cap came off.
Troopers say several gallons of gasoline leaked onto the highway. Emergency Management was called in to clean up the situation.
There were no injuries or traffic delays as a result.
No word on charges to be filed.
