ASHEVILLE, N.C. -

The State Bureau of Investigation is reviewing a crash involving the son of Asheville's police chief and whether the agency handled its investigation of the wreck properly.

One question the SBI will have to figure out is who was in the car. Chad Anderson says someone else was driving his 2007 Pontiac G5 when it crashed into a traffic island in Asheville around 2:30 a.m. March 9.

The Asheville Citizen-Times (http://avlne.ws/10alo3C ) reports that a police report backs that account, even though the only two known witnesses to the crash told the newspaper they only saw one person standing near the car after it wrecked.

District Attorney Ron Moore asked the SBI to get involved because he wanted the actions of Asheville police that night to be reviewed.
