Family: Trampoline impales home, barely misses grandmother's head
Severe weather Wednesday night into Thursday morning sent a trampoline flying through the air and through the wall of an Onslow County home.
Rene Owen said she and her husband woke up to the trampoline impaledĀ home on Francktown DriveĀ in Richlands.
"When I went to bed, I heard the wind, but I didn't think too much about it," Owen said. "We get wind out here all the time."
According to Owen, three legs of the trampoline pierced through two walls at the house.
Two legs went through the wall of her elderly mother's room as she was sleeping, Owen said. One of the trampoline legs came so close to the mother, it moved her bed and barely missed her head.
"I'm just glad it didn't land any higher," Owen said. "It could've killed her."
Another leg went through a wall into the kitchen.
No one was injured.
A neighbor's trampoline also took out some of the home's fence in the back yard, Hughes said.
The family does not yet know how much the damage will cost to repair.
