CRAVEN COUNTY -

A family is homeless after a tree crashed through the roof of their home during Sunday's storms.

A tree crashed through the roof of a Havelock home Sunday, destroying the roof and entire living room.

Kristina Sheehan and Jon Hammond live in the home with their 10-month-old daughter, Serenity. All of them were home when the storm hit.

"There were tree limbs flying down falling everywhere," Sheehan said. "We just ran as fast as we could."

The family got out of the home without anyone getting hurt, but the home is destroyed.

"I don't know if it's repairable," Hammond said. "If it is, it would take months. It's pretty bad on the inside."

The inside of the home is covered with debris from where the tree barreled through.

Sheehan said even if the home was repaired, she fears for her daughters safety; the tree landed in the area of her bedroom.

Several other trees line the backyard area, and Sheehan is concerned another could fall.

"All the trees in the backyard are leaning toward the trailer like this, ever since the hurricane."

For now, the family plans to stay with friends and family until they can get back on their feet.

"We don't have much of an option," Sheehan said. "It's not like we have anywhere to go right now."
