Four cars were involved in a crash on Highway 70 in the James City area of New Bern.
It happened around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday near the McDonalds and Ruby Tuesday. Troopers blocked off the westbound lane at the next stoplight, Airport Road, and rerouted traffic to the service roads for about an hour.
There were no major injuries in the chain-reaction crash; we spoke to the driver who rear-ended another vehicle. He says he was trying to pick up a cigarette that fell into his lap when he crashed into the truck, sending that truck into another.
