According to their outage map, as of 8:00 p.m. Friday, thousands of customers through Elizabeth City have had their power restored.
The outage was confirmed through Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative's Facebook page around 6:15 p.m.

According to their official Facebook page, Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative confirms that Hatteras Isalnd is currently experiencing a large outage.
They said it's due to an issue on company Dominion Power's side of transmission.
Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative said the outage extends all the way to Elizabeth City.
