A Carteret County restaurant owner made some "shocking" additions to his delivery drivers, after robber ambushed one of his drivers.
Employees at Ioanni's Grill off Arendell Street in Morehead City are now armed with stun guns. On Friday night, a female employee went to deliver a late night order to a mobile home at the Atlantic Mobile Home Park II on Old Airport Road.
Jeff Turnage, the owner, told News Channel 12 that when she got there the place seemed vacant.
Turnage said out of know where, a masked man appeared from around the corner of the trailer, pointing a gun at her.
“She begged him not to take her money and not to hurt her," said Turnage. "And he grabbed the money bag and also grabbed the food he had ordered."
The suspect got away with an undisclosed about of money. For protection, Turnage made some big changes by purchasing stun guns for his drivers to carry. He’s no longer allowing them to carry large amounts of money, instead they will have to drop off what cash they have in between deliveries.
The robber is described as a black man, between 20 and 29 years old, five-feet-six, 140 pounds. He had on a black hoodie and was armed with a long gun.
