Cops on deputy's burned car: The wife did it
The wife of a deputy whose car was set on fire has been arrested and charged for setting that blaze.
Captain Joe Heckman with Craven County Sheriff's Office said Katherine Ford, 25, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the Aug. 22 fire.
Deputy Kirby Ford came home from his job at the Craven County Jail that day to find his van burnt to its shell in the driveway of his backyard.
Katherine Ford, who was inside the home with the couple's two children at the time of the incident, is charged with burning personal property. Katherine Ford is also charged with two counts of insurance fraud, one count of obtaining property under false pretense, and one count attempting to obtain property under false pretense.
Katherine Ford was released on a $100,000 bond on the condition that she appear in court Thursday morning. If she does not appear, her aunt who signed off on bond is set to lose $100,000.
